Corporate, business, and personal cards issued on these networks are all treated the same way when you order. If you are unsure whether your specific card qualifies, look for one of these seven logos printed on its face.
Pricing Currency
Billing at tarte always takes place in United States Dollars. Whether you order from within the US or from abroad, the charge is submitted to the card network in USD. Foreign banks then translate that amount into local currency, which may add a conversion or foreign-transaction fee determined solely by them.
Payment Security
The moment you reach our payment step, a secure TLS session is established so that nobody can eavesdrop on the information you send. tarte maintains PCI DSS compliance and works exclusively with reputable, audited processors. Your card number is encrypted and tokenized, meaning it is replaced by a meaningless reference that is useless to anyone who intercepts it.
Authorization & Billing
When you place an order, tarte asks your bank to authorize the purchase amount. This authorization confirms the card is valid and that sufficient funds or credit are available, temporarily reserving the total on your account. The reservation is not a completed charge — it simply holds the amount until the order is finalized.
When You Are Charged
Rather than waiting until shipment, we collect payment when you confirm your order. This up-front billing keeps the fulfillment queue accurate and ensures your reserved items are not resold to another customer. If a product later proves unavailable, we cancel that line and refund it promptly to your card.
Declined Payments
Should a payment fail, you may see a pending authorization appear briefly even though the order did not go through. This is normal — the hold is released automatically by your bank, usually within a few business days, and no money is actually taken. Repeated attempts can create several such holds, so we recommend waiting rather than resubmitting many times in a row.
No Hidden Fees
You will not find booking fees, service fees, or convenience fees buried in your total at tarte. Our commitment is a clean, honest checkout where the cart figure equals the charge on your card, plus legally mandated tax. Because shipping is offered free of charge, delivery costs never appear as a separate line either.
